Tracing the Ancestors

My interest in genealogy began when I was about 11 years old and my aunt Ella Kruse showed me the tombstones of my great-grandparents John Sievers and Martha Groeneveld.  The inscriptions were in German and I began to wonder, "Who were these people?  Where did they live?  Why did they emigrate from Germany?"  Through the years I've learned bits and pieces of the puzzle, but it is far from complete.  So far it's been an incredible journey with lots of help and assistance from other relatives and friends.  Thanks to all who have mentored me along the way, especially my husband Jim, Jens and Jane (my German connections for their incredible assistance), my cousin Neil for his terrific analytical skills, and so much assistance from Al, Adrian and Mary F.  It's been an incredible journey.

There is a Schwans Family Facebook page.     And a Boss, Nipp, Naescher, Schaefers Genealogy Facebook group.

Here is a fun memory from my nephew Troy Schwans about his growing up years.

(I am also an administrator of the Frugal Genealogy Facebook Group.)
